Book Helps Readers Rediscover Their Creativity

Released on: September 8, 2008, 5:52 am

Press Release Author: Brit Hammer / Brit Hammer Glass Art

Industry: Education

Press Release Summary: Having too often heard people cry out in frustration “But I’m
not creative!” glass artist Brit Hammer-Dijcks decided to do something about it.

Press Release Body: Brit Hammer-Dijcks wrote and published a book titled \"Mosaic:
Finding Your Own Voice\". Released on September 5, 2008 in the Blurb online
bookstore (www.blurb.com), this print-on-demand book went straight to the
best-seller list.

“I believe we are all born creative. Many people have either forgotten this simple
truth or unlearned it along the way,” said Hammer-Dijcks.

With the rise of popularity of computers, people have returned to creating with
their own hands - to find inner balance and as a form of healing. Crafts that might
have been lost for eternity have become popular once more. This includes the
resurgence of interest in mosaic. Not just a craft, mosaic has evolved to become a
fine art form.

\"Mosaic: Finding Your Own Voice\" gives readers the tools to explore and (re)discover
their creative natures and gently guides them through the process. Although the book
uses mosaic as a vehicle and showcases some of the best contemporary fine art
mosaics, the lessons in the book are relevant to all (visual) art forms. Not just a
dry textbook, \"Mosaic: Finding Your Own Voice\" also makes a lovely coffee table book
with its colorful, large detail images that left some Illinois gallery-goers
recently stroking the pages of the book, as if they could touch the artworks.

A native of the Washington, DC metro area, Brit Hammer-Dijcks (1969) is an
accomplished glass artist/designer as well as an artist development coach.
Originally trained as a fashion and textile designer, she worked for 11 years in the
fashion industry - at top brands such as Nike and Tommy Hilfiger - but left in 2002
to concentrate full-time on creating art and inspiring others to do what they love.
\"Mosaic: Finding Your Own Voice\" is her third book. She lives in Rotterdam,
Netherlands with her husband.
